at my daughter's candlepass, her big took upholstery studs(brown) and created her monogram in script on the candle with them. she also took pink/brown/white striped narrow grosgrain ribbon and glued it on around the candle about 1 inch below the top of the candle and 1 inch from the bottom. it was very classy looking. i can't remember if she used my daughter current monogram or her future one-this was for an engagement.
in my day we did not decorate the candles used in the candle passes, but we had someone create a fancy sign that we put up to announce there would be a candlepass that night after dinner.
