My point, I think, was that DOB isn't really helpful, yet the graduation date would be. Only having a high school GPA and no college GPA could help too.

I mean you can guess that the average freshman is 18 but 17 or 19 is pretty common and 20 or 16 much more unusual but within the realm of possibility. (Presuming a "traditional" college experience and the population likely to sign up for recruitment.) And that's not getting into the cut off dates for school registration varying markedly from district to district. So, in short, DOB wouldn't help so much determining a one year difference in class standing.
