Some of the most memorable times that my pledge class spent together were on the pledge sneak and on walk-outs. We had one huge sneak and were allowed to have 2 walk-outs during our pledging semester. The sneak was incredible! The entire pledge class planned a trip to Colorado to go skiing. Our pledge marshall new about it and we also took along 3 of the upperclassmen. The idea was to keep it a secret from the active chapter and dissapear without them knowing (usually taking something of importance to them with us [shower heads, telephone system, front door, turn off hot water, etc...]). We were too naive to realize that the active chapter was aware of the sneak...but it made the escape a lot more interesting with them all trying to stop us. The deal was, if anyone was caught, we would have to complete house cleaning before we left.
The walk-outs were kind of like mini sneaks. The pledge class would decide to attend something (all together) like a game or event or just go somewhere as a group and hang out. We wouldn't tell anyone about it except for the marshall. I think both times we did it we decided to take that evening's dinner. It was a blast!
Those types of things really help a pledge class bond and come together as one. Hope that helps.
