skulls
I think that I know why the Phi Kappa Sigmas use the Skulls as their nickname. I almost rushed Phi Kappa Sig when I was looking at different fraternities. It's part of their tradition. The founder of the fraternity, Dr. Samuel Brown Wylie Mitchell, used the skull as a symbol of wisdom and medicine. He was actually a surgeon and held the first meetings of the order in his office. The cool thing was that during the civil war, when Union and Confederate soldiers found each other wearing the skull pin, they actually helped out brothers. I think that this is right but I'm not sure. Please correct me fellow Phi Kaps on anything. The chapter at my school is really cool and I just wanted to say best of luck to all skulls.
