I had either squid or something like a mini octopus at my super Italian ex-bf's house. They took it out of the pot, and it was a whole octopus, right on my plate. It looked like this (sorry for the huge pic, that's why I'm not posting it here):

Aside being weirded out by having a whole octopus on my plate, it actually wasn't terrible. I didn't care for the texture--it was a bit chewy--but it didn't taste bad at all.
