Car Decals

I have my letters in Greek, about 1 inch high in gold edged in dark blue, on the lower right front of my windscreen. My Dad has his in the lower left of his rear windscreen. My Granddad has his same as my dad. My Grandmother tells me that my Great Grandmother lived long enough to trade in two cars after Great Granddad died (at 78) and she insisted on having his letters next to hers (Pi Phi) in the lower middle of the rear windscreen. I have an old photo of them standing behind what I think is a 1926 Packard and you can just about make out the letters. Dad tells me that it was fairly unusual to show letters on cars back then and it really started in the late 40's or early 50's. He thinks the letters were there for a special occasion like a homecoming game or Alumni function. Anyway, I think its kind of cool to have had four generations of cars showing the same letters.
