Rachel started having contractions so they went to the hospital. The nurse claimed there were no private rooms so they had to have a semi-private room (shared with another woman in labor). Throughout the hour, three crazy couples came and went and Rachel got pissed because she was "there first"! Then they bring in a fourth woman...Janice.
In an attempt to shock Chandler, Monica announces that she's ready to have a baby. Chandler says he's been thinking about it too and Monica freaks out. They talk about it and eventually decide to start trying...in the hospital!
Phoebe met this cute patient while waiting for the elevator. He says she should come visit him, but the elevator door closes before she can get his room number. She tries to get the information from a nurse but the nurse refuses to give out that confidental information. Joey poses at Dr. Drake Ramorey (sp?) to get the information and then Phoebe makes him interview the guy as Dr. Ramorey to see what the guy is like.
Meanwhile, Ross's mom stops by and gives him his grandmother's engagement ring and asks him to give it to Rachel. He says he'll think about it. Then Rachel gives birth, she names the baby Emma, and Janice stops by to visit. She tells Rachel that she's proud of her for having the baby alone and that she will never be able to depend on a man. Ross and Phoebe have a conversation about why he isn't with Rachel and tells him he's stupid for not going after what he's wanted since he was 15...he gets flowers and goes to see Rachel. Joey also visits Rachel and she is very emotional. She asks him to get her some tissues out of Ross's coat. The engagement ring falls out and when Rachel sees Joey with the ring, she thinks he is proposing and say yes.
