Day 1: Open House
I started at Kite. It really helped my nerves to start where I already knew many of the girls already. They led us in and showed a little 'get to know Kite' video before the sisters grabbed us for conversations. My teammate grabbed me and took me on a short house tour (the house was a lot cleaner then anytime I'd been there before). I got passed off to two other sisters during the party, and the conversations went really well, but I already knew both girls so we could skip the awkward get to know you questions. I really like these girls, but I'm going through recruitment to make new friends.
Next was Chalk. I was double rushed here. Again, a short video then taken on a house tour. The girls were nice, but awkward. The other girl I was pair with and I met like 5 sisters, so by the end of the party, we could answer any get to know you question for each other. As we were walking out, I could hear several girls in my group talking about how they couldn't wait to drop this group. I thought it was really mean of them to say (especially since I'm pretty sure the sisters could still hear us), but at the same time, I completely agreed with them.
Next we headed to Bubbles and my whole group was excited. Instead of showing a video, they did a skit that was really cute. The girl who picked me up was awesome. We ended-up having the same major so she introduced me to everyone else who the same major (interrupting other conversations). I mentioned I wanted to get involved with a club on campus and she introduced me to the girl in charge of the club. I also got a house tour, and the house was really nice and I could totally see myself living there). I left feeling super connected and hoping to return.
The last stop was Jump-rope. Most girls were double-rushed here except for me and like two other girls, which made me feel a little awkward. They were really nice and seemed really enthusiastic when talking to me. I could tell they weren't really popular, but then, I wasn't looking for popularity.
After round 1, my rankings were:
1. Bubbles
1. Kite
1. Jump-rope
2. Chalk
