I know this thread is old but i'm new to the board and decided I'd like to respond to it anyway
If Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated was to end allowing new members to join yes I'd be sad and disappointed but my status wouldn't be changed. It's one thing to never be accepted into a group and a whole different situation to be kicked/put out. If you don't fully have something, it's hard to completely appreciate what you are missing. I'm sure this idea is different for people who have wanted to be a member all of their lives. I feel that just because you don't wear the colors or hold the title doesn't mean you can't accomplish or help accomplish the same goals that actual members are. It's really all in you heart and determination. Being a part of the sisterhood and feeling as if you really belong is the ultimate goal but isn't necessary required in order for you be successful and help others. Anywho, that was my little speel on the situation. Meanwhile everyone just pray that this scenario never becomes true!
