That's because they got the cattle from central and upstate NY where there are slaughter houses.

OK now Im confused, if the midwest only includes Kansas, Nebraska (Huskers suck...yeah Im still a lil made about National Champs 1998),Iowa, Missouri, and sometimes Oklahoma...why the heck do people say Michigan is in the Midwest along with Ohio, Indiana and Illinois? I mean Michigan needs to make up its mind where it wants to be. I sang a school song at football games for 4 years saying they were the "Champions of the West", and now your trying to tell me they aren't even in the Midwest?!?!
