For the same reason people respond to other discussions.
If I was to say that, unequivocally, rape victims precipitate their own victimization and are to blame for their circumstances, I'm positive many people wouldn't be thrilled regardless of whether or not they have ever been raped. That doesn't mean these people don't believe that
some circumstances are preventable.
