Well, in the last week my "mad dash" turned into more of a little old granny shuffle. I only managed to see half of my list. I do have some Oscar picks though.

Best Actor I've gotta go with Jeff Bridges. He was great in Crazy Heart and he's way overdue for an Oscar.

Best Supporting Actor I'm really hoping Christoph Waltz wins it. He was the glue of Inglourious Basterds. I thought he was utterly brilliant in it. It's likely that Stanley Tucci will win it though. I love Stanley Tucci but I'll be disappointed if he wins.

Best Actress Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren are always brilliant but I think it's obviously going to go to Sandra Bullock. This bugged me at first but comedies never win Oscars and that's really her strongsuit. She's a wonderful comedic actress so maybe it all evens out in the end.

Best Supporting Actress I really liked Vera Farmiga. I didn't get to see Precious though. Mo'Nique won the Golden Globe and that's either the precursor to an Oscar OR it opens the door for someone else to win because they've already been recognized. Who knows?

Best Picture Oh, please anything but Avatar. I haven't even seen it but I've heard enough about it. The Hurt Locker would be my choice. I doubt Inglourious Basterds will win but I'd be okay with that as well.

So, those are my picks having only seen half of the films. It's nice to be interested in the Academy Awards again after so long.

Finally, I'd like to thank the Academy and the many members of Greekchat who encouraged me to try to tackle something very difficult. It's been much more than just watching movies.
