Maybe on your campus the smaller groups will survive, but when you have the average sorority size of 200 members and one has about 100 members-they are not going to survive if the numbers continue to drop. The houses are expensive to keep upand to be able to compete with the other sororities you have to have the money which requires having enough members to provide that money. Fraternities are different. They do not have standard housing most of the time and I know some that live in little houses that are very inexpensive thus they can have 20 members and still survive. On sorority row the houses are not cheap to keep up and run.

BTW, most of the girls on my campus that went through rush did not want to be in a small house. While quota was about 55 for most houses, the smaller houses would maybe get 5-10 girls.
