Perspective from the other side of the trenches:

If you know you aren't going to make a due date for a project, worth 25% of your final grade, and it states in the syllabus that late assignments will NOT be accepted,

Don't try to sell the instructor on getting a delayed due date, on the date the project is due.

I HATE that - I had five, FIVE, students try to pull that on me Tuesday - I haven't seen them in class for two weeks (we met in the library so I could help with the research portion - they decided not to show)

They aren't happy, because a 75 is the HIGHEST grade they could earn now - I refused to accept the late assignments....the rest of the papers I will be grading from now until three days from now, non-stop...

Stress just isn't on the student side of school...
