Again, it's all a matter if interpretation - there's no need for us to defend burgundy as being "close to red" when burgundy is also a shade of brown and magenta is also a shade of purple, Pink isn't a primary color so they are all shades or combinations of red, blue or yellow - but that isn't the point.

Being a "shade of" or "close to" doesn't make something crimson - red is the only acceptable substitute so there's no need for folks to go past red if something is questionable. I'm also starting to see purple and lavender used in DST paraphenalia - true, the violet is our flower, but does that extend to clothing as well??? It's something we talk about alot - I consider this a healthy discussion - but we don't see any clarifications or uniform changes communicated to chapters and as our organization grows that is going to have to change because there are too many individual, regional and generational diferences of opnion. Instead of even making personal and chapter interpretations, we should consult our P/T guides, the Commentary and if necessary call a regional or national P/T committee on the issue, that's what they are there for.

I agree that all paraphenalia needs to be designed and worn in taste and sorors need to be sisterly in addressing the issue with one another. For example, in a recent DID I did with collegiates around attire, the conversation quickly moved to the proper undergarments to wear under clothing - the opinions basically broke down by generation and not to be too graphic older sorors basically felt that halters and baby doll tops were cute, but I don't need to see your nipples through your DST shirt, if you want to wear it, put on a padded bra - if you can't look ladylike in it, don't wear it (I'm paraphrasing, of course) these were things that 20 and 50 year olds saw completely differently.

This horse is sufficiently beaten for me!!
