Talking BEWARE: THIS MESSAGE IS KIND OF LONG

Well, well, well. I will be the first to comment from the prospect's perspective. Some "perps" just do it for the attention. Plain and simple. Most perps do not know the extent of what it really takes to become a member of a GLO. They think that you just have to learn the names of a few founders, learn a few chants and party walks, a smidge of history, and it's all good.

Most of the time "perps" want the love and attention that is attached to being a member. NO, I am not a perp, but this example fits the topic. In undergrad, I used to hang with girls in XYZ Sorority, Inc. They often took me along to various greek events that happened on other campuses. When they ran into their sorors, it was all hugs and kisses. Since I was along with them, they automatically assumed that I was a member and extended that love to me. It was on ME to inform these ladies that I was not a member, but merely a sisterfriend. Funny thing is, the love was no different (well, maybe slightly, but you get my point) Some perps would have capitalized off of that.

That's just one thing. With the widespread usage of the Internet and all the technology involved, people can create a new identity everyday. Everyone thinks that they are anonymous. If they lie about being a member, how will you know? If they get found out, they can just create a new user name and come back tomorrow. It never ends. Even in person, if go to Florida and rep a Georgia chapter, how will you know? By the time you try to blow up the spot, I'll be on the first thing smoking back to Florida.

My overall opinion is that it is for the love. Just for a second, sit back and think about what it was like before you became a member of you respective org. Then think about how your whole circle of friends and "family" changed after you gained membership. Some people seek that. All sisterfriends can admit that they feel a small sense of envy (regardless of how slight it may be) when a former sisterfriend crosses those sands or members are simply giving "soror only" shout-outs. We all seek that. That's why we are all here. However, the sensible, logical, and most SERIOUS population of us want our props the legit way... when we EARN them!
