i say go for it but please take all the advice that has been given - its very good stuff.
my own personal opinion - i would never do it again. i have had 3 long distance relationships and they all ended very badly with lots of hurt feelings on both sides. cheating, loneliness, lack of communication, issues with time spent, jealousy, accusations...every problem seemed magnified because they werent there in the flesh to talk about it with.
i, of course, wish you and this fellow nothing but happiness and i hope everything works out!
