I worked at an emergency clinic in Chicago and one of the worst dystocias (dystociae?!) I ever saw was a poor mini dachshund momma. She had whelped 1 or 2 puppies at home, and then had continued to be in labor for over 24 hours! We pulled 2 dead pups out of her. One came out in parts, either because it was deformed, or because it was starting to decompose.
The best part? The female owner was pregnant herself! We were all thinking, "Good God, woman! Your dog has been pushing for over a day now, and you just now get her to the hospital?!" "We all wish a horrendous labor for YOU!"
That poor, poor dachsie
