Sorry if I came across as critical or anything. :-/

A small group is not the right fit for everyone. Also, smaller groups tend to have a harder time holding their own in FR - back in my day we did participate in FR, and let's just say it wasn't easy trying to accomplish with 20 women what other chapters could do with 100+ women. Hence the switchover to informal recruitment. And everyone is different - AEPhi wasn't right for you, and AXO wasn't right for me.

This is the first MIT recruitment story I've seen on GC from a PNM's perspective. I nearly dropped my laptop when I saw your first post. I've met a lot of awesome MIT AXOs who joined in my day and later, and I'm really glad you've found your home there. (And from a purely superficial standpoint, the chapter has a beautiful house!)

I hope you have many happy years and experiences as an AXO.
