If the local "ABD" was absorbed by an NPC sorority, the alums would be contacted and given a period of time to join. The local sorority would contact the alums they keep in touch with and let them know that they were being absorbed by an NPC and if the NPC allowed this, the alums could be initiated when the chapter was installed. I'm sure every NPC has different policies and procedures for this. Yes, if your mother was a member of "ABD" and she then proceeded to be initiated into the NPC, you would be considered a legacy depending on the sorority. Every NPC has different legacy policies but most consider daughters legacies.
