Oh I'm late to the party on this.... but that was hilarious! And hit a little close to home. My grandmother tries to avoid sending Grandfather on errands at all costs. But one time, I was visiting and had borrowed their car to pick up a family friend from the airport.
She gave him a list of items to pick up on his way home from golf, with specific instructions to get things in the order she'd numbered them. This way he wouldn't be walking around the store with frozen items melting as he hunted down dry goods.
So of course, when unloading the car later, he expressed to me how silly it was that she had told him to get the frozen things last WHEN THEY WERE ALL JUST GOING TO MELT IN THE TRUNK WHILE HE WAS OUT ON THE COURSE.
As in, he went to the store on his way there, instead of on his way home. At least he followed directions while at the store?
