It's a lot more complicated than one might think!

A Greek Afairs Advisor is a university staff member whose job it is to ensure the proper management of the university's Greek Affairs office. Greek Affairs is a sub-section of the profession known as Student Development in Higher Education (SDHE).

SDHE also covers areas like academic counseling, residential life, student transition and orientation, campus life (student clubs), student government etc. (All of which I have experience in). In all there are some 24 areas of SDHE.

A student affairs professional is typically required to have a Master's degree in Counseling or Education or a "related field". It is especially helpful to have experience in a higher education setting.

One can visit the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators website at http://www.naspa.org and/or the American College Personnel Association at http://www.acpa.nche.edu/

I am a member of both organizations and have found the websites to be very helpful.

I am preparing to start my Master's program this fall and am very excited about it! Also, I think that TriSigmaTX is a student affairs profesisonal as well.

Check out the thread called "Job Opportunity" located in the Alumni Involvement forum. It's a job posting for a position such as the one you're asking about.
