I saw it while at home for Christmas. Two IMAX tickets were over $30. After I woke up from passing out, we went in and had a great time.
I have a HORRIBLE memory from a really bad car wreck years ago, so I honestly don't remember the movies you all mentioned even thought I have seen them. The plot did seem predictable though...but I don't go to movies looking for new and exciting plots. Most movies recycle the same stuff anyway.
My husband and I both really enjoyed it and I'm glad we splurged for the IMAX experience. My parents had seen it before we did and were going on and on about the "pantheistic" philosophy and how they were uncomfortable throughout the movie. They are devout evangelicals. After I saw it, it seemed much more like Christianity to me.
