Never been stood-up. Stood up somebody accidentally mid-date...I still cringe when I think of what an un-intentional beyatch I was! Story involves alcohol and general debauchery, so skip if it offends you.
I was invited to a fraternity invite by a guy I considered just a friend (although a very fun friend). We pre-gamed at his apartment with all his friends, went to the chapter house and then boarded the bus to take us to the venue.
The venue, when we got there, would not let in anybody under 21. The social chair had not planned this event AT ALL! He was one of those guys who is the king of any party he goes to, but is terrible at the details. In addition, one of the guys had thrown up on the bus and so the buses were not taking us back. Nobody wanted to go into the venue if only a few of us would even be able to enter. We eventually rented a "party taxi" (aka large taxi with Christmas lights and a Rihanna CD) for me and my date (and all his friends) to go back to a local bar.
So we get to the local bar and I'm there for about an hour, but there was some drama with a pledge talking about deactivating because of the event and my date was on their exec at the time. He was dealing with it the whole time (as he should have been) and I was really bored and pretty tipsy. Since the venue was changed, the event read "post-game" in my mind. I had no issues telling him I was going to go and told him thanks for the great night.
It wasn't until the next morning (and a phone call from a friend of his asking if I had had a good time) that I realized the "second venue" was really just a substitute for the first and that I had totally ditched my date!! I still get embarrassed about this...we went to other things together after that and always had a blast, but I still cringe when I think of how it was probably perceived at the time.
