Wendy,
OH MY GOD.
That has to be the most awful story that I have heard in a long time. I am so sorry and if there is ANYTHING that I can do to help, please don't hesitate to contact me. The only thing that I can tell you--and I know it probably doesn't seem like much--but THANK GOD you found out about your ex's true colors before you got married or had children.
I firmly believe that one of the most difficult things to have to deal with in a relationship are the significant other's family members. It is always a delicate tight-rope act, especially when they are a little loony. My ex before I met my husband had a certifiable b***h-lunatic for a mother. (And if you know me, you know that I just don't say things like that about other people.) I know that married life would have been total misery with her as a MIL. So, be thankful that you escaped in time, and rest assured that someone 1000x better will be on his way to you eventually!
Now, onto other things. And I'm sorry to bring this up, but its the legal side of me that I just can't supress (darn it! lol). If you had a joint bank account that you put money into, he just can't lock you out of it! You are entitled to get your money back.
Oh, and I hope that you hock the ring for some beaucoup bucks.
What a jackass.
We love you no matter what, and we're here for you whenever you need us!
