But, why is it that we don't see Juneteenth sales? We don't see coupons in the paper for "soul food"? (lmao) This morning I made sure I picked up products for making tacos that were on sale.
Even during the month of February, I don't recall any Black History sales/coupons.
Why is Cinco de Mayo embraced more?
Let's see what happens next month?
Edit: I don't have a problem with Cinco de Mayo being celebrated.

Personally, I don't WANT to see Black History Month, MLK day, etc. trivialized to this point. If I saw a sign that said "Chitlins 39 cents a pound in honor of Black History Month/MLK birthday, etc." I would be PISSED. These days are sooooo not about food! Let's use your example, for instance, what is the purpose of Cinco De Mayo anyway? I know I knew at some point, but I jsut don't remember. I'm willing to bet that a lot of the folks that "celebrate" Cinco de Mayo or St. Patrick's day do it for the margeritas and the green beer vs. any true cultural identification.
