It would really depend on what you are looking for. There are things in my life that are important to me that are affected by politics. If I were to move to California I would be arrested as a felon because of the difference in the laws in Ca. and Tx. Ca. tends to be politically liberal, with high state income tax (9%), high outlays for welfare, and 'over' regulation (if you send a sleeping bag to Ca. for a zipper repair you will be charged for dry cleaning before any work is done. It is the law.) If you like that environment, many do or they wouldn't live there, you might find places like NYC, Boston, northern NJ, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New Orleans, D.C., Ct., and some areas of Colorado, Ohio, Oregon, and Washington to your liking. If you are wanting to get away from taxes and prefer a good climate places like Texas, Tenn., or Florida might appeal to you. If you snow ski, Arizona would probably not be a good choice. If you are into SCUBA diving I wouldn't suggest Montana. Motorcycles are not big in ND or Mn. If you like snowmobiles avoid Florida. It all just depends on what you like to do and what you are looking for.
