I Gotta agree with Newbie here CALI is THE place to be. All of the places she mentioned are wonderful.. PALO ALTO is my hometown.. Atherton is right next door.. the whole palo alto menlo park, atherton area is beautiful.. I believe all three are tree city USA designates... which means they have A LOT of trees everywhere... the weather is nice most of the time.. sorry for those of you who like the changing of the seasons... but I mean... who really enjoys shoveling snow off their car at 6 am or un freezing the water pipes or any of that stuff ? The good thing is snow is close by it's only a 3-4 hour drive to tahoes from the bay area... and in most SO cal areas it's about the same to big bear if you really want to experience the season changing thing...Let's see what else rocks about California ?? the people here are VERY diverse and open minded.. you're always likely to meet someone who will open your mind to something new. Down south I'd have to say my fav cities include Palos Verdes, Malibu, New Port, and Tustin. As Newbie mentioned though.. the cost of living here in cali is VERY VERY VERY VERY high... actually the second richest person in the world.. (Larry Ellison from Oracle, second to Bill Gates) lives in Atherton... but as someone said about NYC you get what you pay for.
