My kids aren't little, so I don't see much cute stuff out of them anymore, as I mentioned earlier. However, my kids are at their dad's house this week and tonight, my son called me. I figured he wanted something because, at 13, the boy generally doesn't just call to chat. However, this time, he was just calling to chat. He was bored and he wanted to talk. So, he talked and talked and talked and talked. He talked about his Halloween plans, his science class, some tv shows he'd seen. It was so bizarre. I'm still trying to figure out what he wanted, but, he didn't want anything, except to talk.

ETA: He did something else the last week that he was at his dad's. We had been talking about going to see Where the Wild Things Are as a family (my daughter, my son and myself) because my mom had read that book to me as a kid and then read it to my kids too. It was a favorite for all of us and, it reminded us of her. I received a text message from my son one evening, the week that it was going to premiere, saying "I've been thinking and I really don't think that I can go see Where the Wild Things Are and remain emotionally stable at the same time." <blink> 13 year old boy showing emotion and insight? I texted back "Cuz of grandma?" and he texted back "Yes". Brought tears to my eyes. He *is* in touch with his emotions even if he can only share them via text messages.
