But i figure i might as well do it now and if i click with one of the sororities that has it and get a bid, that great but if not try again as a junior and rush in the fall (which might also hinder me since i will be two years older than most of the pledges)

i keep reading about how you need letters of recommendation from panhellenic from your home town or people that have been in the sorority before. i dont know how to go about doing this and i dont know anybody that has been in a chapter that we have at a&m. so how improtant are the letters of rec, do i need them? Also would it "improve" my chances of getting in since i'm already hindered because i'm a sophomore?
*From what I know of A&M from being on GC, they are important.

*I can't speak to whether they can trump being a sophomore (because I am not a member of an A&M chapter).

*I'd suggest contacting your local alumnae panhellenic for help with recs. I know that they primarily help girls get recs for formal recruitment, but I would contact the one closest to you and see if they can assist you. There is a list of them by state here: http://npcwomen.org/alumnae-panhellenics/directory.aspx
