They just changed the rule in my school district - effective this year you have to be 5 by Aug. 31st. If they wouldn't have changed it, Mariana would be in kindergarten this year, because the old cutoff was October 16th, and her birthday is October 11th. I'm glad they changed it.
PS - I can't believe my little girl is 5 years old!
