The phrase "you folks in the Northeast" is perfectly correct from a grammar standpoint, and is non-inclusive either by connotation or denotation. Taking offense to it is silly.
Even if you assume it to be a generalized majority (which seems fair), you have to lump yourself into that majority group to get anywhere near the level you're aiming for.
