It is called connecting the dots.
If the common denominators across a couple of the arrestees is Chi O, then that's just a fact. Investigators may want to know how these suspects became part of the same "criminal network" and where their low level "operation" often took place. (Using weighty terms in quotations because this is a Daily Tarheel article from a student and not a police press release.)
If the common denominators across the nonGreeks included a particular neighborhood or a nonGLO organization, then that may be mentioned for the same reasons.
I think that Greeks take Greekdom way too seriously sometimes. In doing so, they assume that people are out to get them in a way that other organizations and businesses aren't put under the radar from time to time. Chi O will most likely not be hurt nationally or locally by the affiliation of these women, unless Greeks insist on protesting too much over the mere mention of a GLO. Gasp.
