It's difficult for sophomores and up to get bids in formal unless they already a lot of the girls in a chapter. Going in with the attitude that only only Pi Phi or Theta are what you want is asking for disaster. Chances are 99.9% against your getting a bid to a top chapter as a sophomore transfer, and you obviously know those two houses are at the top.

There are lots of "good" sororities here, not just those two. One of the other 9 might be willing to settle for you.

(And yeah, before you ask, I am a member of one of the "top" ones since that seems so important to you.)
