Every school is different and I agree, recs/sponsorships are not as heavily endorsed in some areas of the country. I know that I would never be a Delta Gamma at some Southern schools if I didn't have a recommendation. That's not the case for many schools and I'm 99% sure that's not the case at GW. Sure they help, but I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Most chapters, if they have housing on campus at GW, will tell you. Their row houses aren't very old so most are proud of them, especially since not everyone has housing. But sure, it's certainly ok to ask.

And finally, I agree with KSU... just because you aren't Jewish doesn't mean you will be cut. Recruitment is a mutual selection process. If you meet a bunch of women who you've heard are in a "Jewish" house and you all hit it off, congrats, maybe you've found your new home.

You have to remember what characteristics, qualities, attributes and morals mean the most to you. Take that and know that women recruiting for a sorority go through the mutual selection process with characteristics, qualities, attributes and morals on the mind too. If they have a connection with you that's a little deeper than Jane next to you, maybe you'll get that invite back... you never know what that connection will be. Don't let issues of race, class, religion sit in the front of your mind when going through recruitment; you'll only sell yourself short. GW is diverse and in a diverse city - you will find the right place for you before you know it.

*Good luck!*
