A lot of my sisters and I hang out with Pi Kapp on our campus. One spring break, we went to Mardi Gras (which is absolutely out of control, by the way). Many of the nights we were down in the French Quarter, the brothers would wear jerseys or hats or something with letters on it. But I did not once wear letters the entire time. First, my chapter has a rule that you don't drink or smoke in letters, which I think is a good rule. Also, I know the stigma "sorority girls" already have. I didn't want to make that worse by getting falling-down drunk in my jersey. (And even though I wasn't in letters, I still felt I owed it to myself and my sisters to act respectably. Not once in Mardi Gras did I flash any part of my body, though I was fairly intoxicated!) Maybe the guys can drink in letters b/c people almost expect them to (though I hate playing off the frat guy stereotype). For example, every March there is a steeplechase in Camden, SC that GLOs from all over the state go to. The fraternities often rent tents and fly flags with their letters and consume mass quantities of alcohol. Yet, very very few sororities have tents. I know for ZTA, the rule is that there is no drinking at "official" Zeta functions. So if we got a tent, we couldn't drink, and we don't really want to do that, so we go with the guys. So at least where I am from, there is a difference between the guys and the girls.
