I fully understand why he should/ should not have given his opinion. As president he is expected to be 'the voice and face of America' and probably shouldnt go speaking his mind all the time. While others may say that they value a man in office who doesnt keep you guessing about how he feels. As a person and as president I think Obama is way more open than he should be. Its not a bad thing, but it does allow people more opportunity to pick at stuff. If he's asked a question he'll answer it "honestly" whether most people wouldnt have or think he shouldnt or not. Also he should have addressedd the overarching issue of racial profiling only and not this particular situation.

Yes if he had addressed racial profiling as a whole, then it would have been fine. The problem is that Obama seems to have trouble remembering he is the President. I think it's perfectly fine for Barack Obama to form opinions, for that is his right. However the President of the United States shouldn't be forming opinions on something that was essentially a muncipal matter. He leads the country, and should only be concerned with issues that affect the country as a whole.
