Maybe it's because I live in a tourist-y area, but here there are all kinds of rules about what you can have visible from the street if you live within city limits. A while back, there was a whole mess over a woman having a suit of armor on her front porch just because the city thought it looked "cluttered"
You'd think there would be some sort of city or county code that would cover this type of situation.
