Awesome retro story!
Personally, I think that
some retro stories can be helpful to PNMs, because in some cases, they give an idea of how mutual selection works (just because you love XYZ doesn't mean the feeling is mutual), and some stories show that recruitment is not always successful -- I remember one story (I think it was set at USC) where the PNM did not receive any bids but came back to GC to say that she had gotten involved in other ways. I liked this thread so much, because it showed that the quality of one's college experience does not hinge on joining a GLO.
Some retro threads are fun reading, because they are signs of the times, back when recruitment was rush.
NOT helpful or fun are the high drama "brutally honest" retro threads that string on and on for weeks and months (although I do love Barbie's thread right now -- life's been stressful, and that thread is loaded with comic relief).
Perhaps people wouldn't mind the retro threads so much if they were A) short, wrapping it up in 1-3 posts over a couple of days; B) concise, since we don't need to know the nitty gritty of every single conversation someone had at each house; and C) TRUE. Seriously, NaNoWriMo is in November, and the creative writing club can get more info about that
here.
