Sorry, stepping into your forum here
I am from TX and we call everything Coke. People will say "What kinda Coke do you want?" Then you say "Dr Pepper" or "Sprite" or whatever it is you want.
And if there is any kind of can lying around (other than beer) it is generally called a coke can.
Oh, and we sometimes say "soft drink".
