Recently there was a colony formed in my region, and while dealing with assisting them to get their charter and become a recognized Greek org. on their campus; I realized that a lot of schools have organization registration policies that require an organization to belong to a national organization and that national organization to a national umbrella organization, in order to function on their campus. It really helped to be able to refer to the NMGC when dealing with the Head of Greek life in order to assure them that my org was a part of something bigger than itself and that org(NMGC) had certain requirements that we had to maintain in order to retain active membership status.

Just an fyi: It is my understanding that the NMGC will be voting to become a governing body rather than the advisory council that they have been, and they may not be accepting applications for new members at this time. I can get more info from my rep if you'd like to PM me. Hope this helps!
