Sorry, can't be much help; I've only met one person who went through a similar program (University of Baltimore, I think), and i didn't know them well enough to really get into details.

I would call up the Widener admissions department and see if they can connect you with a couple of students who went through the program. That way you can ask them specifically about their experiences with it, and ask them what kind of impact it had on their first year.
