I too am a Southern Belle and was taught not to wear white shoes,(pumps, boots, sandals) after Labor Day. Tennis shoes are an exception. I was also taught not to wear white bottoms(shorts, pants, skirts) as well. The classic white shirt is no problem. I think it is silly too. As I got older, I didn't see the point! However, it is stuck in my head and I can't get out of post labor dayitis
