Depends on what kinds of bands you're looking at and where you are. Aside from some of the huge band parties at places like Auburn in the fall that have pricey big name bands, its usually fairly regional groups. Find out what bands play at other houses' band parties, or get in touch with a good band that plays at a local bar or something.
