I was wondering about something and haven't seen it mentioned yet. Did anyone else find it sad that W was booed? Perhaps he deserved it, but it was still a classless move.

I agree with the sentiment of your post. I think, at least in part, this election represented some maturation for the nation's electorate.
Regarding the Bush reaction, perhaps silence or indifference, rather than booing might have been a better course of action -- but that's America, it's a big, brawling, messy country and people for the most part, have the right of free expression. ...the Republic won't crumble over it.
