I'm very sorry that you are sad about going alum. Do you still have close friends in the chapter? If so, just hold on to them very tight. It's really no different when you keep hold of your very close friendships. You still get all the gossip and goings-ons, without any of the responsibility and fines!
I personally cannot wait to go alum (in only 2 weeks now...woohoo!!). Most of my best friends went alum last year and left only 3 of us remaining. I have honestly never been so depressed in my life so trust me, I know how you feel. I think we were all on the verge of full fledged depression. After a while, though, we realized that nothing had really changed. My newly alum friends were so active, they came to everything with us and we hung out as much, if not more, than we ever did.
I know it sucks at first, but once you get over the initial shellshock of such a big change, it is so much better. If you ever need anything, you know I'm here for you.
