It's aimed at older women.
If you don't recognize them, you won't enjoy it. Although the 2 Baywatch guys I didn't know at all, but for my money they both look a HELL of a lot hotter now (esp David Chockachi).
I'm sure it's scripted just like the Scott Baio shows were since he's exec producer, but if it gets Chris Atkins a Law & Order spot I'm down with it.
And yeah, I don't think Eric was a "teen idol."
