It sounds like like Apple Jacks COULD work. Only you can judge - but speaking as someone who got their second choice, let me assure you that often it is for the BEST to be where you are really, really wanted. Give them every opportunity, and understand that the system is imperfect. There is no telling why you were cut - and you should try (easy for me to say, I realize) not to take it too much to heart.
