I was in a band for awhile.. One thing I never knew about bands was the major difference between bands that are really good and bands that play bars is their knowledge of music. In my old band I was the only one that could REALLY read music although the rhythm guitarist was studying chord theory at the time he didn't have a very firm grasp on it.

All we ever got to do was play at bars (although we *did* have some stuff on the internet that they made before I was with 'em). This was really great for me because I was 19 at the time and not only did I get into the bars where they wouldn't check ID, they gave me free drinks also!

Playing music and free drinks... I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Tell them if they want to 'take it to the next level' they need to get their hands on some theory books and devour as much of it as possible. The band I was with didn't do that and as far as I know they're still playing bars.

The digital effects were a nice touch though.. I can hear that they have something good going (and obviously enough money to get some cool toys!). With a little bit of work invested into not-so-fun stuff (learn chord progressions, etc..) they could be really good!
