I majored in Graphic Design at school and I still work as a designer now - 8.5 years later

I work in print doing packaging, brochures, catalogs, booth graphics, etc.
I love what I do. And I think it will be good for the future if I decide to stay home, I can always freelance. Although it's sometimes hard in a corporate world working with people who don't always understand the language that I'm speaking - or the managers that want something changed and stand over my shoulder while I'm working on a layout. That drives me insane! The only things that keep me sane are the other two wonderful artists in my department.
I also wish the field were more lucrative. The market is just swamped with artists and therefore the salaries often stay low. And that makes it that much harder to find a new job!
